U.S BASE, THE MAKESHIFT IS FINALLY REVEALED.

On June 14th, the makeshift conspired by U.S. was finally discovered. When six lawmakers visited the site and dug the ground, gasoline instead of water turned up. According to the environmental experts who took the samples from the site estimated that the total cleanup bill for the bases could be as high as $430 million. Furthermore, the agreement-cleaning up the base before returning to its original owner- signed by U.S. makes this event more surprising. Yet, the Korean government doesn’t require any cost of cleaning up to U.S but just is planning the future plan in the site full with pollutants now. In addition, the negotiation which says that Korea will pay the half of the cost needed to move the U.S. base to Pyeongtaek.
In my pint of view, this one-way-supplying policy should be halted. Since Korea was enlightened, it has been under the pressure of U.S. in most areas such as government policy, military, international relations, administration of justice, etc. Also, in this case, it is even ridiculous to pay all the cleaning and half of the moving cost. Despite EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in America strongly strict about its condition of surroundings, they take no care about the outside land. This self-centered mind resulted in incurable damage to other nations. In the aspect of diplomacy, the treaty about environment, especially hiring out the land from outside its nation should be reinforced. In my opinion, this disastrous damage to ground should not go easily.
First of all, rehabilitation of site should be carried out as well as indemnity of consequences occurred because of contamination. As a temporary owner of the land, U.S. troops do not have any right to harm the nature. Also, what they sow needs to be reaped by them. Furthermore, the public apologize should be carried out. Because of the contamination, he habitants, animals and plants must have been destructed. It may seem a small adulteration in a limited area, yet the spreading consequences cannot be compensated merely by the financial payment. Objectively speaking, U.S. must take their responsibility in the use of Korea’s resource and sincerely apologize publicly.
